My Philosophy

I believe it is important to create a community where all learners feel safe, respected and have a sense of belonging. It is important to focus equally on the social, emotional and academic needs of students. I strive to meet children where they're at by differentiating instruction, choosing developmentally appropriate activities and providing a balance between teacher-directed and self-directed learning. I value play, the arts, movement, creativity and laughter as important and meaningful parts of the learning process for children.

Welcome Back to School Second Graders!

Welcome back to school!  It was terrific to spend time with everyone at the Firefly picnic Monday night!  I was amazed by how much all of my friends have grown over the summer!
We will spend the next few days settling back into school and getting to know our new first grade friends on the Firefly team.  Next week we will ease into our regular schedule.
Please send your child with their Family Information sheet the first day of school as we need that information to make sure we know where your child will be going at dismissal time.  Our class has Unified Arts at the end of the day every day this year.  Because of this and changes in dismissal time, our class will bring our belongings to Unified Arts and be dismissed directly from there.  If you are planning to pick your child up it will be easiest to meet them in the office at dismissal time.  All students are being dismissed at the same time this year, it may be a bit chaotic for them to meet you down in the classroom space.
I look forward to another wonderful year of learning with your children!
