My Philosophy

I believe it is important to create a community where all learners feel safe, respected and have a sense of belonging. It is important to focus equally on the social, emotional and academic needs of students. I strive to meet children where they're at by differentiating instruction, choosing developmentally appropriate activities and providing a balance between teacher-directed and self-directed learning. I value play, the arts, movement, creativity and laughter as important and meaningful parts of the learning process for children.

Welcome Back!

Welcome to the 2011-2012 school year!  I hope everyone has had a wonderful summer! I just wanted to remind everyone that we have a team picnic at Shelburne Beach tomorrow (Monday, Aug. 29th) at 5 pm.  Sadly, our friend Shahad has moved to Winooski and will not be in our class this year, but we have two new students, Mira and Griffin joining our class.  I hope everyone will give them a big welcome at our team picnic!

I've included a slideshow of my family's RV trip to New Brunswick, Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island this summer as part if this post.  I had intended to keep a blog, but just couldn't seem to get it together to do so.  We had a wonderful time even with the rainy weather.  Our favorite part of the trip were the Tidal Bore rafting on the Bay of Fundy and eating seafood almost every day!

I can't wait to see everyone at the picnic!

Love,
Mrs. KillKelley
